Enhance Your Smile with Confidence and Precision
What Is CEREC®?
CEREC® (Chairside Economical Restorations of Esthetic Ceramic) is advanced dental technology that allows us to design, create, and place custom ceramic restorations — such as crowns, inlays, onlays, and veneers — in a single appointment.
Traditionally, getting a crown or restoration required multiple visits, temporary crowns, and weeks of waiting. With CEREC®, your entire treatment — from digital scan to permanent restoration — can be completed in about two hours right here in our office.
At Peak Dental Utah, this technology helps us provide fast, comfortable, and precise results — saving you time while maintaining the highest standards of quality and aesthetics.
How CEREC® Technology Works
CEREC® uses CAD/CAM (Computer-Aided Design / Computer-Aided Manufacturing) technology to digitally capture your tooth, design the perfect restoration, and mill it from a solid block of ceramic. The system includes three main components:
1. Digital Scanner (Acquisition Device)
A high-resolution 3D camera captures detailed images of your prepared tooth — no messy impressions required.
2. Design Software (CAD)
Using powerful 3D design software, your dentist digitally models your restoration, adjusting the shape, size, and fit for perfect precision.
3. Milling Machine (CAM)
The final design is sent to the milling unit, which sculpts your custom restoration from a ceramic block that matches your natural tooth color. Within minutes, the restoration is ready to be polished, bonded, and permanently placed.

Who Can Benefit from CEREC®?
CEREC® is ideal for most patients who need a ceramic restoration, including those with:
-
Cracked, broken, or decayed teeth
-
Worn-down fillings

Cosmetic concerns requiring veneers
-
Damaged crowns that need replacement
Patients with a deep bite or a history of fracturing ceramic restorations may not be ideal candidates, but our dentist will evaluate your case and discuss the best options for your needs.
What to Expect During a CEREC® Procedure
Step 1: Preparation
Your tooth is numbed and gently shaped to prepare for the restoration.
Step 2: Digital Scanning
Using the CEREC® Omnicam or Bluecam, high-definition digital images are taken to create a detailed 3D model of your tooth.
Step 3: Digital Design
The restoration is designed virtually on-screen, allowing your dentist to refine every detail before production.
Step 4: Milling and Placement
A ceramic block matching your natural tooth color is placed in the milling machine. Within minutes, the machine sculpts your crown, inlay, onlay, or veneer. The new restoration is polished, tried in for fit, and permanently bonded with dental cement.
You’ll leave your appointment with a durable, natural-looking restoration — no temporary crown and no second visit required.
